ARCHA THEATRE

21.00 Petr Nikl – Yellow Darkness
“Curiosity killed the cat”
Is it possible to capture light? You cannot meet the time gone by. Yet the sun is still shining and when it glares, it evokes the past. Yellow darkness is the sequel to Petr Nikl’s black-and-white melodrama I am Your Hare. The performance immerses in the space and time, in which birth, life and death have no mutual causality. Light becomes a musical instrument luring us to unknown world. The author is an abandoned character in space made up from an interactive play of laser beams.

Petr Nikl – motion, manipulation, singing. David Vrbík – music, sound, laser interaction, Jan Burian Jr. –  music, Ondřej Eremiáš – objects flying past, Patrik Sedlák - light design.
Free entry / 80 minutes.

14.00 - 18.00 Let’s Play Puppet Theatre

Interactive extracts from the exhibition Three Takes on Czech Puppet Theatre

You will have an exclusive opportunity to see and try excerpts from the exhibition by curators Nina Malíková and Martina Pecková-Černá on the second floor of our building. It is part of promotion of Czech theatre abroad and has toured South Korea, Japan, Finland, Hungary and several destinations in the Czech Republic since 2016 and it is going to Jordan next year. Puppet theatre is a unique phenomenon of Czech culture and has enchanted viewers all around the world. You can find various technological types of puppets on the improvised puppet stage, such as typical characters from Czech fairy tales and you can also try to operate them. There will be puppets of Kašpárek in various technological varieties adapted for your first puppeteering attempts. You can also try Devil as a hand puppet, King as a marionette, Princess as a marionette on strings, Honza as a rod puppet, Water Goblin as a muppet and a shadow puppet of a Witch – all of them are made for professional puppet theatre. It is necessary to have skillfulness in manipulation and good physical condition if you want to operate them. You can find out yourself that the job of a puppeteer is demanding, so Tomáš Zmrzlý will be present to help you as he and Antonín Maloň are authors of the technical design of the exhibition.
